August 2, 2014
The event of the summer, 2014.
On the Snoqualmie River
At Jerry and Marva Houser's place in North Bend, Washington.
We want to collect all of the cousins, grandchildren of Jim and Bessie Davenport, their children and grandchildren.
Salmon Roast: Jerry says, "We have lots of salmon. We catch them all the time."
Grandma Dough Cook Off: We'll have two special categories: potato salad and brown beans. Nobody could make them like Grandma Dough. We'll take a vote and see whose is best. You can also bring any potlucky dishes you are especially good at.
Play in the River: Jerry says, "I make a pond in the shallows with larger river rock. The kids can play safely."
Climb the Mountain: You can follow the trail up Mount Si from Jerry's House.
Meet your second cousins, and all those "once removed" ones. Chuck can't keep the difference straight in any case.
Introduce your family to the rest of us. You might be surprised how much your grandchildren look alike.
Explore your roots: Back to North Carolina and then back to England.
Grandpa and Grandma Davenport's grandchildren knew each other as a tight family. As our parent's generation has all but passed, we've drifted off from each other. The world is changing, and we've all changed with it. Let's get reacquainted.
Have you ever noticed that, whenever they get together, Davenports sit in pods and corners and quietly wait for others to approach them. We're hoping to change that for this Event. And have a PARTY!
